I don't regret buying it, but it's not outstanding, either. I have a review on my profile, but that's the long and short of it. well let's say I stopped short of the secret ending, but it's not a game I'd recommend playing for the plot. It's okay, weirdly lopsided difficulty, it's got some neat dualsense gimmicks, does some okay additions to the roguelite formula that want you to balance out bonuses and maluses, the whole "bullet hell" angle is very prominent on the marketing, but it's more window dressing than anything else. I'd like to see a remake of RE5 though, one that fixes the dumbass AI and maybe tightens up progression in general, just because I consider the original nearly unplayable but I feel it tried to do 4 better than 4 ever will be able to. I think people just cream their pants over it because omg nostaliga more than anything else. And you can tack on as many sidequests and item hunting and minecart levels as you want on it, fundamentally it's never been a very good entry in the series.

#Is resident evil 4 a port or a remake series
Fundamentally it's a game that banked hard on a lot of "smart" enemies on screen (because that was the new hot ♥♥♥♥ in 2005), cobbled together from a ton of weird ideas regarding where to take the series next, and didn't do much of anything particularly well. Imo, RE4 remake was always going to be a lipstick on a pig situation.

Most time only kicking yellow painted boxes and stupid enemies escorted by a a nervewracking heavy breathing Ashley - i hope this was the last Remake of any RE titles. Deathloop is another game I thoroughly enjoyed, but big part of it is because it's the game with the best Dualsense support out there, and that did a lot for my experience. I haven't played it much, but so far I've liked it a lot. If I was to recommend a game that I've found to be really interesting as well as much more solid than I expected it to be, Atomic Heart has a fascinating setting and it does interesting things with elemental damage and weapon upgrades. RE2 remake and 7 handily surpass it imo, unless you're specifically looking forward to a game that's more boom-bang-pew. I know capcom did their best to improve on the stupid escort missions and the QTEs, I still don't think it's a particuarly good game.

RE4, I haven't played the remake but I've played the original in gamecube and I think it's a very forgettable third person shooter that people remember mostly because of its technical accomplisments at the time and how it broke off with the resident evil formula up until that point.
